WILL OF JOHN WATTS OF EAST HADDON 1503
In God's name Amen. the ....th of the month of May in the year of our Lord God 1503, I John Watts of East Haddon, in whole mind, make my testament in this wise,
First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, my body to be buried in the church of East Haddon aforesaid.
Item I bequeath for my ........ of the manner thus;
Item I bequeath to the mother church of Lincoln 4d
Item I bequeath to the... of the blessed sacrament in the church of East Haddon aforesaid 2 torches......... & also I bequeath to the font.......in the church of Buckby 20d
Item I bequeath to Elizabeth my wife 2 kine and a bullock, 30 sheep, a land of wheat, another of rye, a land of mastelon, a dole of barley, a dole of ..... a mattress, 2 pair of sheets, a pair of blankets and coverlet, 2 brass pots, 2 brass pans of the middle sort, and yearly 6s 8d sterling to be paid by John Watts my son during her life at two terms of the year, that is to say, at the Feast of St Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of our Lady, by even portions,
Item I will that Elizabeth my wife have my little to occupy for term of her life and after her decease, I will that the said .....shall remain to the youngest child of the said John Watts my son
Item I bequeath to my said wife a silver spoon.
The residue of all my goods not bequeathed, I give & bequeath to John Watts my son, and him I make & ordain mine Executor to dispose for the health of my soul as he ....may best see to please God this witness by .....Umphery, vicar,
