WILL OF JOHN LONGE OF SULGRAVE 1519
Sulgrave
In the name of God amen, the 20th day of the month of January in the year of our Lord God one thousand five hundred and 19, I John Longe of Sulgrave in the county of Northampton, of good and whole mind nevertheless sick in body thanked be God make my testament under this manner and form following
First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God, to our Lady Saint Mary and to all the holy company in heaven and my body to be [buried] in the church of All Hallows in Sulgrave
Also I bequeath to the mother church of Lincoln 4d. Also to the church of Sulgrave 4 marks [of] lawful money of England to buy a book that is called a Anth.....
Also to the altar of our Lady 8d. Also to the altar of Saint ... Also to every Altar [?] town nearing to Sulgrave 20d
Also to every one [of] my godchildren 4d
Also to the light before the rood loft 10s 4d [?]
Also to Woodbridge Way 6s 8d
Also to the high altar 8d
Also to the ..... Sulgrave 6d.
Also .... church of Sulgrave for the [health] of my soul.
Also to the bells of Sulgrave 8d.
Also I give and bequeath to Jone my wife during her life a "mese" with a close and all other my lands meadows, leases & pasture with all the appurtenances lying within the town & fields of Sulgrave
And after the decease of Jone my wife I give and bequeath to John Creswell my servant ... during his [life] the said mease and close and all my lands meadows, leases & pastures with the appurtenances lying in the said town and fields of Sulgrave and after the decease of the said John Creswell I will that the said mease & close with all the said lands, meadows, "lesurs" & pasture do remain to my right heirs forever more.
The rest of my goods not given nor bequeathed I give to Jone my wife the which I make my sole Executrix of this my last will and John Grendyon of Calcott, gentleman, my overseer- these be witness Sir John Hinton vicar of the said parish of Sulgrave, William Colls William Rawlyns, Henry .... John Coll with others
