In the name of God amen, the year of our Lord God 1524 I John Bennett of Chacombe, weak of body but whole of mind make my testament .....manner.
First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God. to our Lady Saint Mary & all the holy company of Heaven, my body to be buried in the churchyard of Chacombe.
Item I bequeath to the mother church of Lincoln 2d.
Item to the high altar of Chacombe 2d.
Item I bequeath to Sir Roger Norman 20d to sing 5 masses of stala...
Item to Our Lady light an ewe.
Item to the rood light 4d.
Item to the sepulchre light an "hewe".
Item to the torch light an ewe
Item to the brotherhood light 4d.
Item to the bells [blank]
Item bequeath to Thomas my son a cart or the price 20s [?] 2 horses with the harness or the price .......other of the 6s 8d
Item 22 sheep a cow a brass pot of my .....
Item I make Annes my wife my sole Executrix, the residue of my goods not bequeathed I give and bequeath to Annis my wife to dispose [of] them for the wealth of my soul and I make Thomas P...... John Moll overseers of my testament within this my own house...Chacombe the 4th day of September, to this beareth witness Sir Roger Norman, Richard Gardener clerk [?], Peter Tyms with others.
